What it is
Windscreen protection film is an optically clear TPU layer, 6.5 mil thick, fitted to the outside of the windscreen. It absorbs stone impacts and light scratches before they reach the glass.
Who it suits
- Cars with expensive windscreens, especially those with cameras and sensors that need recalibrating after replacement
- High-mileage motorway drivers
- New cars where you want to keep the original glass
Cost
A fitted film costs £300 for screens under 140 cm wide and £350 above that. Compare that with a windscreen replacement plus camera calibration and the film often pays for itself after one avoided claim.
