Chameleon film: how colour-shift tint works, and where you can fit it

Why the colour moves, what the five CG Series colourways look like, and the legal points to check first.

Why the colour changes

Chameleon film is built from many ultra-thin layers. Light reflects off each layer and the reflections interfere with each other, so the colour you see depends on the angle and the light. From inside the car the view stays largely clear.

Aurora Sapphire Blue
Crimson Ember Red
Neptune Mirage Green
Amethyst Mirage Purple
Golden Reef

The CG Series colourways

  • Aurora Sapphire Blue deep, cool blues
  • Crimson Ember Red fiery reds into orange
  • Neptune Mirage Green oceanic greens
  • Amethyst Mirage Purple purple to pink
  • Golden Reef warm gold tones

More than looks

Chameleon film also rejects heat, blocks harmful UV, cuts glare and helps hold glass together if it shatters.

Where you can fit it

On the windscreen and front side windows the combined light transmission must still meet UK limits: 75% for the windscreen and 70% for the front sides. Results depend on your car's glass, so we check before fitting. Read the full UK tint law guide.
